Print Subscriptions Now Available in Canada, Europe and Australia
on March 3rd, 2016You’ve been asking for a long time, and we’re so excited to announce that our print subscriptions are now available to our readers in Canada, Europe and Australia! Y’all make up about 20% of our readers (wow! thank you!), so we are looking forward to sharing our print editions with you this year.
What took so long? Well, as you probably know, we’re a really small shop, and international shipping from the US isn’t super simple. Each issue we send over will need a customs form, and we had to get some new tools in place to process all the postage and paperwork efficiently. We got the nuts and bolts figured out now, but it is going to be more expensive: shipping one subscription to Canada (4 issues over the course of the year) will cost $40 total, and to Europe and Australia, $52. So, if you’re located outside of the US, your total cost (the subscription, plus shipping and handling) is going to start at about $100. Keep in mind we also have organizational subscriptions available for companies, startups, non-profits, hackerspaces and other large groups, in 3, 5 and 10-packs, so you can get one for your office — that way you can expense it, or get your boss to buy it. Win-win!
Even though the shipping and handling is steep, remember that your subscription ensures that we can keep publishing! We have NO ads, NO venture capital, and are 100% reader-funded — which means we need your support to keep running. Last year, we published a total of over 150 new articles, by over 100 contributors from underrepresented groups in technology. We highlighted SO MANY projects, initiatives and companies by and for marginalized people in tech. We also worked with AlterConf to launch Fund Club, and helped raised over $50,000 for diversity in tech projects and organizations. Your subscription ensures we can do it again — and even more — this year.
